Wonderful. Sessions take place by secure video, from home or anywhere private in California, for individuals, couples and families.
Our therapists practice under California law, so we can only see clients who are located in California during sessions. You deserve support wherever you are: the Psychology Today directory lets you search for a therapist licensed where you live. If you will be back in California, we would be glad to hear from you then.

We can see you in the comfort of your own home by offering video services.
Individuals, couples, and families can be seen using secure encrypted video counseling.

Online counseling offers another way to meet with a HOPE therapist when you prefer not to come to the Roseville office. Sessions take place by secure video. You can join from home or another private setting as long as you are physically located in California during the session.
The location requirement applies each time you meet. HOPE therapists practice under California law and can only provide online counseling to clients who are in California during their sessions. If you are outside California, the Psychology Today directory can help you search for a therapist licensed where you are located.
Secure video can support individual, couples, and family counseling. The concerns and approaches represented across our practice remain the same: relationships, anxiety, depression, stress, trauma, grief, transitions, parenting, and personal growth, with care shaped around the therapist's experience and the client's goals.
Online does not mean impersonal or one-size-fits-all. Your therapist can still learn what matters to you, talk through goals, notice emotional and relational patterns, and invite questions about the work. As with in-person counseling, the therapeutic relationship is grounded in trust, communication, collaboration, and respect for your pace.
03
Choose a place where you have privacy and can speak as openly as you wish. For couples or families, the people participating can discuss with the therapist how they will join. If privacy or location changes, you can bring that question to your therapist rather than trying to solve every detail before reaching out.
When you call or email, tell us you would like to meet by secure video and confirm that you will be located in California. You can also share whether the counseling is for you, a partner, a family, a child, or a teen, and whether you would like to meet with a particular therapist or in Spanish. Wendy is the HOPE therapist who offers counseling in Spanish.
A therapist will contact you within 48 hours, Monday through Friday. That conversation provides a place to clarify next steps and ask what to expect. If you later prefer in-person counseling, HOPE also has an office in Roseville, and you can discuss availability with the therapist.
04
Counseling at HOPE is collaborative and shaped around the person, couple, or family in the room. We do not begin with a preset definition of success. Instead, your therapist makes space for what matters to you, helps you identify personal goals, and works with your experiences and strengths. You can talk about what feels difficult, notice patterns, and decide together where to focus.
Our therapists bring different backgrounds and approaches to this work. Some draw from attachment-based, relational, psychodynamic, parts-informed, somatic, emotion-focused, or cognitive behavioral perspectives. Trauma-informed approaches available within the practice include EMDR, Brainspotting, and Trauma-Focused CBT. Work with children and families may also include play therapy and Parent-Child Interaction Therapy. The approach used depends on the therapist, the client, and the goals you discuss together.
The relationship between client and therapist matters. Our team aims to offer a setting grounded in trust, collaboration, communication, and respect. You can ask questions, share what is or is not helpful, and move at a pace that respects where you are. Therapy can include honest conversation, attention to emotions and relationships, and practical ways of understanding what you are experiencing.
05
A first step does not require having everything figured out. You can read our therapist profiles, or call or email us and we will help you find a good starting point. If you have a therapist preference, let us know. If you do not, we can help identify a good starting point based on the concern, who will attend, the way you would like to meet, and any language preference.
