Clinical Training
HOPE Counseling Center was founded in 2008 as a nonprofit with two aims: making quality counseling more accessible and affordable, and helping develop the next generation of skilled, compassionate clinicians.
Our Purpose
HOPE was built as a place where emerging clinicians can learn, grow and become the best professionals they can be, while clients receive the support they need.
Over the next few years HOPE plans to strengthen its clinical supervision and training for new therapists, building the skills, knowledge and confidence they need to become excellent clinicians.
Clinical Training
Every therapist trainee and registered associate at HOPE is supervised by a licensed clinician.
A Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist has completed a master's degree and thousands of hours of supervised experience, passed the required California exams, and practices independently. Wendy Barillas, LMFT #133716, our Executive Director, also serves as a clinical supervisor.
A registered associate has completed a master's degree and is registered with the California Board of Behavioral Sciences while gaining the supervised experience required for licensure, under the supervision of a licensed clinician.
A marriage and family therapist trainee is a graduate student who provides counseling as part of supervised clinical training. At HOPE, our trainees are supervised by Wendy Barillas, Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist #133716.
