Lincoln, Placer County
From Lincoln, you can take Highway 65 to our Roseville office or meet by secure video from home. Both are real options for affordable, non-profit counseling at HOPE.

01
Lincoln is a Placer County city north of Roseville, and Highway 65 connects the two. HOPE has one office, on Douglas Boulevard in Roseville, so meeting in person means making that trip for each session. The other path is secure video: you meet with a HOPE therapist from home or another private place, and the one requirement is that you are physically located in California for every session.
Neither path is a fallback for the other. Some people want counseling to happen somewhere other than home, and for them the drive becomes part of stepping away from daily life and into a different kind of space. Others would rather skip the travel and keep that time for work, family or rest. Both choices lead to counseling that starts with your goals and moves at your pace.
02
Coming in person from Lincoln asks for some planning: the drive down Highway 65, the time on either side of a session, and, for families, getting everyone into the car together. In return, you get a room set apart from home and work, in one of our serene, comfortable and confidential offices.
Secure video asks for something different: a private place where you can talk without being overheard, and being physically located in California for each session. In return, you skip the trip, and counseling can happen from a room you already know. Neither set of trade-offs is better, and what matters is which one you can keep up over time.
If a younger child is part of the counseling, the in-person option includes our two children's rooms, where toys, games and a play kitchen give younger clients a way to settle in. For an adult meeting individually, a quiet room at home may be all you need. Formats can vary by therapist, so ask which ones are available.

Life transitions are among the concerns HOPE works with, alongside anxiety, depression, stress, grief and relationship issues. A new role, a loss, a change in health or a shift in family life can unsettle even steady routines. Counseling offers a place to make sense of what has changed and to decide, with support, what you want next.
Life transitions sit at the heart of Megan Sullivan's work, alongside grief, crises of meaning or purpose and personal growth. Hanna Kunhart and Brianna Rivera support people through life transitions as well, and Brianna's experience includes adjustment to disability. All three are Marriage and Family Therapist Trainees supervised by Wendy Barillas, Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist #133716, who is also HOPE's Executive Director.
Whichever way you meet, HOPE is a non-profit counseling center, and affordability is part of its design rather than a special program. Before your first session, we will go over current fees with you, so you know what to expect from the start. You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate as well.
04
Counseling at HOPE is collaborative and shaped around the person, couple, or family in the room. We do not begin with a preset definition of success. Instead, your therapist makes space for what matters to you, helps you identify personal goals, and works with your experiences and strengths. You can talk about what feels difficult, notice patterns, and decide together where to focus.
Our therapists bring different backgrounds and approaches to this work. Some draw from attachment-based, relational, psychodynamic, parts-informed, somatic, emotion-focused, or cognitive behavioral perspectives. Trauma-informed approaches available within the practice include EMDR, Brainspotting, and Trauma-Focused CBT. Work with children and families may also include play therapy and Parent-Child Interaction Therapy. The approach used depends on the therapist, the client, and the goals you discuss together.
The relationship between client and therapist matters. Our team aims to offer a setting grounded in trust, collaboration, communication, and respect. You can ask questions, share what is or is not helpful, and move at a pace that respects where you are. Therapy can include honest conversation, attention to emotions and relationships, and practical ways of understanding what you are experiencing.
05
A first step does not require having everything figured out. You can read our therapist profiles, or call or email us and we will help you find a good starting point. If you have a therapist preference, let us know. If you do not, we can help identify a good starting point based on the concern, who will attend, the way you would like to meet, and any language preference.
HOPE offers counseling in person at our Roseville office and by secure video for clients who are located in California during the session. Wendy offers counseling in English and Spanish. A therapist will contact you within 48 hours, Monday through Friday. Before beginning, you can ask questions and learn what to expect so that the next step feels clear.
