01

The Douglas Boulevard Connection

Granite Bay is an unincorporated Placer County community east of Roseville. Douglas Boulevard runs east from Roseville through Granite Bay toward Folsom Lake, and HOPE's office sits on that same boulevard at 2540 Douglas Blvd., Suite 200, in Roseville. Put simply, the road that runs through your community is the road that leads to our door.

From Granite Bay, that makes the office a short drive west. Inside are serene, comfortable and confidential counseling rooms, including one with a soft blue couch and warm light and a quieter one with a deep sofa and a desk lamp. On one desk sit a Hope flip calendar and stones engraved with the words Love and Dream.

More About This

If you would rather not make the trip at all, secure video brings the session to a private place of your choosing, as long as you are physically located in California each time you meet. Let us know which setting appeals to you and whether a particular therapist has caught your eye, and ask which formats that therapist has available.

Relationships at the Center of Our Work

Relationship issues are HOPE's primary specialty. Couples may look for counseling when the same argument keeps returning, when trust has been hurt, or when closeness feels harder to reach than it once did. Counseling can slow those moments down, so each partner can speak from their own experience and hear what the other is trying to say.

Several HOPE therapists work with couples. Wendy Barillas, Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist #133716, brings attachment-based work and a focus on attachment wounds. Eva Di Giorgio, a Registered Associate Marriage and Family Therapist #144286 supervised by a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, draws on Emotionally Focused Therapy and offers an LGBTQIA+ friendly setting.

More About This

Hanna Kunhart, a Marriage and Family Therapist Trainee supervised by Wendy, supports couples with relationship concerns and communication difficulties, and Megan Sullivan and Brianna Rivera, also trainees under Wendy's supervision, work with couples too. Tiffany Senger and Sarah Hausmann, both registered associates supervised by a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, work with individuals, including people sorting through relationship patterns on their own.

When the Whole Family Is Involved

Family counseling at HOPE makes room for blended families, LGBTQ+ families and any family that does not match a textbook picture. For younger children, play can show what is hard to put into words, and our two children's rooms are set up for it. Wendy uses play therapy and Parent-Child Interaction Therapy, and Megan spent twenty-five years as a teacher before becoming a therapist.

Teens are welcome too. Eva works with adolescents, and Megan and Brianna work with children and families, so a parent or caregiver can start with a short note about who needs support. The details of what is happening can wait until you are talking with the therapist, rather than going into an email or voicemail.

More About This

Since 2008, HOPE has operated as a 501(c)(3) non-profit, and affordability has been part of the plan from the start. We will go over current fees with you before your first session, so you know what to expect as you begin. You also have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate explaining the expected cost of care.

How Counseling Looks at HOPE

Counseling at HOPE is collaborative and shaped around the person, couple, or family in the room. We do not begin with a preset definition of success. Instead, your therapist makes space for what matters to you, helps you identify personal goals, and works with your experiences and strengths. You can talk about what feels difficult, notice patterns, and decide together where to focus.

Our therapists bring different backgrounds and approaches to this work. Some draw from attachment-based, relational, psychodynamic, parts-informed, somatic, emotion-focused, or cognitive behavioral perspectives. Trauma-informed approaches available within the practice include EMDR, Brainspotting, and Trauma-Focused CBT. Work with children and families may also include play therapy and Parent-Child Interaction Therapy. The approach used depends on the therapist, the client, and the goals you discuss together.

More About This

The relationship between client and therapist matters. Our team aims to offer a setting grounded in trust, collaboration, communication, and respect. You can ask questions, share what is or is not helpful, and move at a pace that respects where you are. Therapy can include honest conversation, attention to emotions and relationships, and practical ways of understanding what you are experiencing.

05

Your First Step

A first step does not require having everything figured out. You can read our therapist profiles, or call or email us and we will help you find a good starting point. If you have a therapist preference, let us know. If you do not, we can help identify a good starting point based on the concern, who will attend, the way you would like to meet, and any language preference.

HOPE offers counseling in person at our Roseville office and by secure video for clients who are located in California during the session. Wendy offers counseling in English and Spanish. A therapist will contact you within 48 hours, Monday through Friday. Before beginning, you can ask questions and learn what to expect so that the next step feels clear.

Questions

Common Questions

Where Exactly Is the Office?
HOPE's office is at 2540 Douglas Blvd., Suite 200, Roseville, CA 95661. Douglas Boulevard continues east from Roseville through Granite Bay, so the office sits on a road that connects straight to your community, a short drive west. Secure video is the other option if you will be physically located in California during each session.
Can We Ask for a Specific Therapist for Couples Counseling?
Yes. Wendy Barillas, Eva Di Giorgio, Megan Sullivan, Hanna Kunhart and Brianna Rivera all work with couples, and each profile describes their approach. Name the therapist you would like to meet when you reach out, or describe what the two of you hope to work on and we will help you find a good fit. Ask which formats are available as well.
What If Only One of Us Wants Counseling?
You can still begin. Relationship patterns can be explored in individual counseling, where you look at your own part in a cycle, what you need and how you respond under stress. If your partner later decides to join, you can talk with your therapist about what that might look like. Tell us who would be attending when you reach out.
