Trauma-informed counseling that respects the experiences of service members, veterans, first responders, and their families.

01

Care Grounded in Your Experience

Service members, veterans, first responders, and military-connected families may bring experiences of trauma, stress, relationships, parenting, grief, transition, or adjustment into counseling. HOPE offers a calm, collaborative setting that begins by listening rather than making assumptions about what service or family life means to you.

Wendy has worked with first responders and military service members and provides trauma-informed support tailored to the experiences and needs of these populations. Her broader work includes trauma, attachment wounds, childhood and relational experiences, emotional dysregulation, families, couples, individuals, and children.

More About This

Brianna has experience with military-connected individuals and families as well as individuals, couples, families, children, older adults, and blind and low-vision clients. She supports anxiety, depression, grief and loss, relationship concerns, life transitions, attachment, and adjustment to disability through a compassionate, collaborative approach.

Counseling can focus on your own concerns rather than a predetermined service-related agenda. You and your therapist can discuss what is affecting daily life, relationships, emotional well-being, or a transition, then shape the work around the goals you identify together.

02

Support for Individuals and Families

Some people come individually, while others seek support as a couple or family. The therapist profiles show who each clinician works with and the perspectives they bring. Wendy offers EMDR, Brainspotting, Trauma-Focused CBT, attachment-based work, play therapy, and Parent-Child Interaction Therapy among her approaches.

You can request in-person counseling in Roseville or secure video while located in California. If you need immediate crisis support, call or text 988. Veterans and service members can press 1. In an emergency, call 911. Email and phone lines are not monitored for emergencies.

How Counseling Looks at HOPE

Counseling at HOPE is collaborative and shaped around the person, couple, or family in the room. We do not begin with a preset definition of success. Instead, your therapist makes space for what matters to you, helps you identify personal goals, and works with your experiences and strengths. You can talk about what feels difficult, notice patterns, and decide together where to focus.

Our therapists bring different backgrounds and approaches to this work. Some draw from attachment-based, relational, psychodynamic, parts-informed, somatic, emotion-focused, or cognitive behavioral perspectives. Trauma-informed approaches available within the practice include EMDR, Brainspotting, and Trauma-Focused CBT. Work with children and families may also include play therapy and Parent-Child Interaction Therapy. The approach used depends on the therapist, the client, and the goals you discuss together.

More About This

The relationship between client and therapist matters. Our team aims to offer a setting grounded in trust, collaboration, communication, and respect. You can ask questions, share what is or is not helpful, and move at a pace that respects where you are. Therapy can include honest conversation, attention to emotions and relationships, and practical ways of understanding what you are experiencing.
