I believe that therapy is a collaborative experience and that you know yourself better than anyone else. I also believe that people generally try to improve themselves, but that we can all get a little stuck sometimes. If you need help choosing new goals, reorganizing your life, or just getting out of the ruts of behavior or relationships you’ve been in, I’d like to assist you in doing that. I offer a confidential, safe, and supportive environment as you explore the possibilities in your life and set out in a new direction.
When children come to counseling, I like to include as many people from the child’s life as possible. Children don’t grow up on their own, so we shouldn’t expect their healing to be a solitary experience either. I’ve worked within school systems and am comfortable introducing behavior plans and working with teachers, after-school care, and other family members as needed.
Areas of Expertise: Children, adolescents, adults, individuals, couples, and families. I enjoy incorporating art with children and teens (and any adult that would like it) and find that a drawing can sometimes communicate more than talking. I can assist with many issues including anxiety, depression, traumatic experiences, life transitions, relationship problems, changes within a family, stress, and grief/loss.
Education: MA in Counseling Psychology from California State University, Sacramento; BA in Psychology with a minor in Human Development and Family Studies from University of Nevada, Reno (graduated cum laude).
