Laura Rinset
Hello. As you attempt to seek assistance with whatever challenge you are currently experiencing you may wonder if counseling will really help. My experience, as spoken by my mentors is, “The only way to get over something is to go through it”. Whether you are struggling with a life transition, relationship challenges, depression, anxiety, stress, an embarrassing obsession or compulsion, or your child needs assistance, I will work as your guide in assisting you or your loved one in navigating through whatever challenge, so that life can feel manageable again. I work with adults, children, adolescents, families, and pre-marital couples. I have extensive experience in assisting people from a variety of backgrounds and lifestyles. I believe that everyone has an inner compass that can guide them, but that sometimes we lose our connection to that compass due to outside challenges. I treat everyone with the intent to utilize and build upon the person’s strengths, so that you can live the life you want. In the following paragraphs I provide a brief overview of my approach and hopefully that will help you to know if I am the right therapist for you.

In working with children, I have experience in assisting children coping with self-esteem challenges, divorce, grief, domestic violence, behavioral issues, and trauma. In working with children I find it essential to include one or more parents or the family in the process, so that the child receives consistent support from as many caregivers as possible. I typically intermix talk therapy with art therapy, sand tray, and other techniques to help the child to feel therapy is fun instead of stressful or boring.

In working with adolescents and adults, I am experienced in working with adolescents and adults suffering from depression, anxiety, bipolar, obsessive-compulsive symptoms, grief (including grief related to the loss of a child), issues related to domestic violence, codependency, recovery from drug and/or alcohol addiction (I am 12-step friendly), self-esteem issues, identity challenges, body issues, and eating disorders. I find it essential to understand your story and your perspective, so that I can know what type of techniques might be most beneficial for your personal healing and growth.

For those who are interested in a less traditional approach that blends traditional talk therapy and energy medicine, I offer a holistic approach that seeks to treat the whole person – mind, body, and spirit. This approach is called Advanced Integrative Therapy. To learn more about this approach you can visit the website: www.aitherapy.com.

In working with pre-marital couples, I specialize in working with couples who are struggling with taking the next step or deciding whether or not to take the next step towards committing to a long-term partnership or marriage. I assist couples with reconnecting to their strengths, resolving communication challenges, improving conflict resolution, exploring values, and gaining clarity about the severity of their challenges. In working with couples I work with the underlying belief that a solid partnership depends on each individual within the couple taking care of his or her individual well-being; as well as adequately attending to the needs of the partnership. I also believe that if each individual has the willingness to do the necessary work then it is possible for a couple to overcome their challenges and maintain a long-lasting healthy partnership.
